SEAL Systems, 2013 1st Quarter Review

To begin the second half of the year, we would like to thank everyone involved in our customer community for a great year so far.  We have been able to integrate some exciting new developments into SAP, Siemens PLM, and other systems.  In addition, we have been able to meet requirements with our standard, out-of-the-box solutions including SAP Form & attachment distribution, Teamcenter Unified collect, convert and distribute, and Corporate Output and Conversion Management.
Some interesting developments and new functionalities of existing solutions include:

  • DDP4TC: Transmittal package revision and control for Teamcenter Unified
  • Creating Smart PDFs with interactive callouts on our conversion server
  • Nofify4SAP: Automatically create a notification from a field location on a mobile device, and work on current orders without having to log in to SAP
  • PLOSSYS Pickup:  Mobile phone trigger the print of your confidential documents, while standing at the printer
One of the most exciting parts of the year for us was connecting with some of our affiliates, customers and business partners in person.  With the help of Siemens PLM, SAP, ASUG and the Eventful group, we have been fortunate to have a chance network and discuss in some great locations. We attended shows including SAP Centric EAM, Siemens PLM World, SAPPHIRENOW and ASUG Chapter meetings located around the country.
Upcoming Events:
  • ASUG Fall Focus
    September 25-27 2013
  • Best Practices for Oil & Gas – SAP
    October 6-9 2013
  • SAP TECHED
    October 21-25 2013

DMS Loader

It is often the case for SAP users to begin to use of SAP DMS – Document Management Systems. This is a location, accessible to everyone in the company where business documents can be stored and managed. In most cases, the DMS module is included with your SAP System (Check with your SAP service rep).

The DMS module provides DIRs (Document Information Records) which contain links to documents stored in the DMS content server, KPRO. In addition, the DIRs contain all document Meta data, document type, user information etc. Some of the benefits involved in using SAP DMS are a secure check-in and check-out of documents, search capabilities, and the ability to link documents to other SAP objects including PM order, PP order, SD order, etc. SAP DMS also provides a workflow process, meaning the document can go through recorded status changes.

When moving from one document management systems, to SAP DMS, it is often a large task. There are several documents that must be migrated and a lot of information to be loaded into the appropriate fields of a DIR. In order to save some of the pain involved in this task, SEAL Systems provides a solution called the DMS Loader. This allows users a onetime load of all documents into DIRs within SAP DMS, and it also populates all the fields within the DIR with document and SAP information.

“With the DMS Loader/ABAP module, data and files can be imported safely from external systems into the SAP document management system. During the loading process, configurable proofing’s, enhancements and adjustments are set. Document information indicators, classifications and object links are established or modified. The document files are imported and stored with the designated filing method. User exits enable customer-specific tests and actions. Different loading methods can be configured and accessed.”
